Whatcha Got Cookin'

Well its safe to say its been awhile since I've updated the blog! One reason is well exams happened for me, and hunting season hit. Also with the cold weather we've let the log part of the house stay on the back burner and focus on the addition and electrical aspects of the house. We moved our wood stove to the house and hauled off all the siding we had taken down. We have taken down all the cabinets, and had the walls that needed it re-drywalled, hung can lights and rewired the kitchen. This weekend we worked on priming and prepping the walls....and picking out paint colors...oh my oh my. It still seems a little unreal that we've hit some of those stages, and even if its just in one section of the house, I'll take it! We've had some great friends and family help over the past few months as well! Chase has certainly been the work horse down there lately and allowed me to finish up my semester without worrying about being at the house when ever he was. I'm in awe of how motivated that man is, there certainly isn't any one else I would want to take this mess on with. Anyways, so besides the kitchen Chase and his good buddy have been working on rerouting the electric and setting up new panel boxes for the house as well. I can say I wasn't much help there, but I did learn a little along the way. The kitchen will hopefully continue changing week to week, and maybe just maybe come spring time may be a functioning kitchen. As for now, here's some progress pictures. I'll try not to let it be so long between posts again! Hope everyone had a wonderful Holiday with all your loved ones!

Grinding Away

We're in it now...there's no changing our minds. Not that there has been for awhile now but now it's coming on the outside just as much as the inside. As you can see there's been some serious changes happening to the walls of the house. We started exposing walls, so we can fix areas that need fixing, and clean what needs to be cleaned (which is everything) and chink the outside. If only it went as quick as its explained. On the inside doodle has finished that masterpiece of a hearth. It's just gorgeous. If nothing else of finished beauty has taken place, that sure has. I take that back though because the leveling that chase continues to do and the framing of windows and doors is so amazing too. We had help from my favorite helper,
my sister Odie last Saturday, and me and her cleaned logs...which means I still haven't been able to escape the grinder...and it doesn't look like that will be happening any time soon. There have been some rained out days this week and the guys have been able to get some hours in from that. It's looking exciting and scary all at the same time these days. It's a lot too wrap your mind around, but looking at those small goals at a time gets the job done. Until next time here's some pictures of the progress.
